8/8/2023 0 Comments Dirt 4 vr support![]() This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who’s played DiRT Rally or DiRT 4 (or most other DiRT games, for that matter), but the actual racing is looking top-notch. Guess that was just marketing fluff to tickle my balls and wallet.A couple weeks ago we were treated to a good chunk of gameplay from Codemasters’ upcoming rally racing simulator, DiRT Rally 2.0, thanks to a livestream, and now thanks to another livestream (which you can view below), we have even more of that. I am sooo pissed as I cannot play Dirt 4 as my sim setup is for VR only!!!ĬHODEMASTERS even stated in a review for Dirt 4 that they hadn't ruled VR out. I put 5 hours into Dirt 4 and then asked for a refund which Steam refused as it had been in my library over their allotted time frame for refunds. I have a feeling they will be bringing out Dirt Rally 2 soon and it will have vr support but I do not think it will happen for dirt 4. I have been actively cursing CHODEMASTERS on their forums and Steam now for months and not once have I received a reply, and it is not just me but anyone who asks the forbidden question. ![]() Originally posted by dwindsonator777:Go onto the CHODEMASTERS forum and literally scream with your keyboard, we need all the VR supporters to do this. Or at the very least bring something tangible to the conversation. If you're tired of reading posts about VR then. I got my question answered and I will continue to pass on this game until/if they ever add VR support. I came here to ask a question, so I could give the developers money and so I could enjoy a good Dirt game. ![]() so that's kind of a big deal if you're going to be making a racing game and exclude a huge amount of your playerbase. Over 90% of the people I race with and talk to who have tried VR will not go back to racing on monitors. Not going to lie I am getting tired of people posting about getting tired of reading things that have no correlation to them at all and benefit absolutely nothing to the conversation. Mostly because everyone doing it acts like the developers owe them this thing. Originally posted by tenlinkedparts:Not gonna lie, actually getting sick of people doing the whole "no VR no buy" thing. And I really really want to buy this game lol. I, for example, will not purchase a driving sim game unless is has VR support. But the numbers show maybe Dirt 4 would be even more successful it it had VR support. Now I'm just going off of 10 minutes worth of research on the internet, and I could be wrong somewhere (please correct me if so). There are more people in a single quarter with VR headsets than bought Dirt 4 since launch, double in fact. Now Dirt 4 has made it into the hands of 1% of Steam users. So the more financial quarters we add to the number of headsets sold the higher the percentage of Steam users are VR users. Not all of them are steam users, but let's be real, i'd put $100 says a majority of them have Steam accounts. So of 18.5 million, that single quarter alone makes up, potentiallly, over 2% of Steam users. ![]() Now I don't have any proof that these numbers are 100% accurate, keep that in mind.Īnd I can't find total VR headset sales for the Vive and the Oculus, but I've seen single VR games that have sold over 200,00 copies, but lets put that aside.Īpparently in Q3 of 2017, the Vive and Rift alone made up 400,000 headset sales. Here are approximate number of Steam users in Jan of 2018, 18.5 Million users.Īnd here are approximate number of the owners of Dirt 2, just under 200,000. how much of the community as a whole would or have purchased Dirt 4?Īnd then of course there is the compitiion that continues to add VR to their own racing sim games.īut maybe we can get close to the answer. The real question is how many of that 1% as you say buy and play racing sims vs. Strawman argument there, because the only strength to that arguement would be if the entire Steam community purchased Drit 4, only 1% would be able to use VR. TLDR: There are more new VR headset owners in Q3 of 2017 alone than the overall Steam sales of Dirt 4 since it's launch. Makes total sense to implement VR for less than 1% of all steam users. Like I said in the post though, I'm open to having my number corrected if they are wrong, and keep in mind these were numbers from last year. Below is a post I made.last year I think? I did some quick number crunching on the number of VR headset sales vs the number of copies of Dirt 4 sold and it was very interesting. I think that's fair, but when we look at the numbers some of us are scratching our heads as to why the Devs don't add VR.
